Rotorua, New Zealand
Day three of our little mommy-daughter adventure. But pause, isn’t my mom the actual cutest? Her spirit lights up the room, I’m so lucky.
We ventured from Rotorua XBase hostel to Waimangu Volcanic Valley for the day.
Waimangu is Rotorua’s premier tourist attraction and a must-see to understand the extraordinary thermal activity in this part of the South Island. A protected scenic reserve and wildlife refuge, Waimangu Volcanic Valley geothermal park encompasses beautiful Lake Rotomahana and is set in pristine New Zealand bush. Waimangu Volcanic Valley is just 20 minutes south of Rotorua and 40 minutes north of Taupo. We visiting this exciting thermal attraction on a self-guided tour of the park, seeing the unique ecology, rare botany and fascinating geothermal features it has to offer. Waimangu Volcanic Valley is also the site of the worlds largest crypto geyser, inferno crater.
Enough on the history of Rotorua’s geothermal activity. While beautiful, we were excited to venture to somewhere a little less smelly and a little more tropical.
