• Internship Abroad: Okay, Here I Go

Most of you have been asking how I landed this internship in New Zealand. Well, when original plans don’t work out, you look for more right? I knew I wanted to travel, so I went online and looked up internships abroad. It was a long and stressful process, but I know it’ll be worth it.

Fast forward through the boring housekeeping and here are my important updates:

    1.  I have officially received and decided on the company I will be interning with. I will be interning at Lily & Louis Lifestyle and Fashion public relations company in Auckland from August 5th through August 12th. I will be working Monday through Thursday 9am to 5pm, shadowing a variety of accomplished experts in my field. This internship will give me a taste of the public relations business in a field I am passionate about with a global twist. I am more than honored to have been selected to intern with this company.
    2. I’ve also finally received my housing information. I will be living in an hostel style apartment in Ponsonby in Aukcland with my own room and a shared living and kitchen space. The apartment is only a 13 minute walk from my internship location and also centrally located just outside the city, in a posh little area, adjacent of the waterfront.
    3. I have also bought my plane ticket and decided to give myself time to explore the South Island before and after my 10 weeks in Auckland. I will be arriving in Christchurch, New Zealand on Saturday July 29th and will be leaving for Auckland to begin my internship on Saturday August 5th. Yesterday, I finalized my plan to see the Northern tip of the South Island during my stay that week. I will be beginning in Christchurch, then heading to Kaikoura to see the seals along the peninsula. From there, I will take the 5.5 hour drive up to Nelson, through the center of the island, due to past year’s earthquakes. The plan is to spend 3 nights in Nelson in a small airbnb, visiting Abel Tasman National Park and small coastal towns. To finish it off, I’ll be driving to Punakaiki to stay at a hostel retreat before returning to Christchurch for one more night.

Stay tuned to see my plans put into action.
